I went through CMS and got the Authorize.net and also a manual swipe machine for shows. I was not told about all the extra fees and the three yr contract. I now pay 65.00 a month (at least) when I sell nothing. A bit more if I sell things.and I am stuck for three years. If you do not sell thousands of dollars a month, get a "Square" (google it, it is very cool and no charges ever except a fee if you sell.no contracts either!) and stick with Pay pal. CMS does not disclose anything!
I am going to write about my experiences for other consumers.
Good luck fellow Entrepreneurs.
Mich,
I use CMS for their online transactions, not for POS (point of sale) transactions which are completely different. I have yet to find anyone that could beat their prices for online transactions.
I´ve also got a deal with them to remove the monthly minimum for all of my customers (normally $25.00). I´m not sure what other "fees" you are running into, but a quick call into them would probably be a good thing. I´ve set up many clients with CMS and if they sell nothing, the cost is just their $8.95 statement fee and Authorize.net´s $13.99 gateway fee.
All of the fees are in their contract. I´d love to hear more about your story because it doesn´t match with any of my dealings with Capital Merchant Solutions.
For POS transactions Square is a very easy way to start accepting credit cards for anyone. Square charges 2.75 per transaction for swiped cards and 3.5 for hand entered cards. If you do a minimum number of transactions for a limited amount then the square is probably a better deal. (If you go over $1000 in a week then you don´t get your money for 30 days compared to 1-2 business days for normal less than $1000 in total transactions for a seven day period.) Also if you accept more than $1000 without the card present your account will be flagged and it will take longer to get your $$$.
Since writing this article I know of another company with over a million dollars in the bank that got frozen and put them out of business when PayPal stepped in and froze their account. I don´t have a PayPal account and I never will.
